OVERVIEW

A mobile commerce experience for Granado, extending its existing e-commerce into a dedicated app focused on conversion, while elevating the brand’s premium identity through a carefully crafted and elegant interface.

CHALLENGE

E-commerce SaaS platforms are built for scalability. Standardized structures, predefined flows, and shared design systems enable fast deployment across multiple clients, but often limit how far a brand can express its identity within the product. Granado entered this context seeking a more distinctive and elevated mobile experience.

The challenge was to extend this existing foundation to support both a more refined, brand-aligned interface and a set of custom features across key moments of the journey. Rather than redefining the system, the work focused on adapting and evolving its components – balancing consistency and flexibility, while translating Granado’s premium identity into a cohesive and functional mobile experience.

PROCESS

Iterated on an existing prototype, refining key surfaces such as home banners, product cards, category layouts, and product detail hierarchy based on client feedback.

Adapted and extended the design system through feature-specific adjustments, creating new component variations to support custom requirements.

Designed and detailed selected custom features, including subscription-related flows, gift packaging in cart, and store discovery within the account area.

Delivered structured handoff materials, including UI specifications, user flows, and event tagging to support analytics implementation.

SOLUTION

The app extends Granado’s e-commerce into a dedicated mobile experience, allowing users to browse products, navigate categories, and complete purchases through a structure adapted from the existing online store. Developed collaboratively by the design team, the experience builds on a familiar commerce foundation while introducing adjustments that better support mobile interactions.

Beyond standard shopping flows, the app incorporates tailored features across key moments of the journey. Users can personalize purchases with per-item gift packaging directly in the cart, search for in-person stores, and access enriched product information through structured content on the product detail page. These additions enhance both usability and depth, supporting more informed decisions while maintaining a cohesive experience throughout the app.

IMPACT

The app was launched in December 2025 and continues to receive regular updates, maintaining strong user reception with a 4.8 rating across both the App Store and Google Play, and over 10,000 downloads on Android. The project was recognized internally and by the client as a successful implementation, often referenced as a benchmark for other brands within the platform.

Beyond the launch, several of the UI adaptations and component variations developed for Granado informed improvements to the SaaS itself, influencing the evolution of the design system and serving as a reference for future implementations. On a personal level, the project marked my first experience working on a highly customized product within a scalable system, as well as directly presenting design decisions to clients and incorporating their feedback into iterative improvements.
